Ten years in and the goal is the same; keep your kids safe while giving them some of the most fun days of their whole year! This is accomplished by going to fun places all day long, and by ensuring that everyone is engaged, included and respected. Being with a group of new people can be intimidating and I’m proud to prioritize making sure everyone feels like part of the group as soon as they show up.
Our adventures are open to ages 6-14! We increased the cutoff age from 12 after several participants aged out of Tour Club but wanted to keep coming back! Once they’re 15, participants are invited to join as junior chaperones.
CHAPERONES
Hi! I’m Sam, the founder, director, lead chaperone and driver on all Tour Club field trips. I was a lifeguard and swim instructor on and off for over ten years, coached youth sports at Wash Park Rec, and led the Wash Park My Denver Program in its inaugural year. I am CPR, First Aid and AED certified. In case you’re interested in a more comprehensive work history, here’s a link to my resume.
Secondary chaperones include parents and grandparents of participants, and past participants. When I’m not the only chaperone, you’ll receive info about who else is joining us in the adventure reminder email.
SMALL GROUP SIZE
As a one van operation, our excursions end up feeling more like a family vacation than a day-camp! Having a range of ages adds to the fun and uniqueness of the experience. Younger kids gain confidence by making friends with older kids, and older kids can find it rewarding to be the role models of the group. Not to mention, friends and siblings are never separated!
REGISTRATION
Spots are held by registering and paying online and completing the waivers form. Each registration page shows how many of the ten spots are still available. If full, you’ll see an option to join the waitlist.
In the event that a week is not full, it opens for daily signups at least two weeks before it starts.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Our meeting location is in the Wash Park area. The church where we’ve been meeting (400 S Williams St.) was sold and is likely being torn down; I'm working on securing another convenient location in the vicinity.
